5.0 Framework vs. Drupal 8
The 5.0 framework is a theme (look and feel)
Drupal 8 is software (online tools)
What you need to know about 5.0
- It's a work in progress until its official release
- The band blue, green and tan background colors are no longer supported and will change to a light grey color
- The main menu bar, breadcrumbs and footer navigation are changing
- .wdn- class names are changing
4.1 styles mapped to 5.0 classes
.wdn-inner-wrapper → .dcf-wrapper
.wdn-stretch → .dcf-full-width
.wdn-center → .dcf-txt-center
5.0 Classes
Goal of the 5.0 Classes- Reduce file size of CSS by removing duplication
- Provide pre-defined classes with formatting flexibility
- Improve style consistency across sites
- Reduce or eliminate the need to write custom CSS
Whenever possible, use 5.0 Classes instead of writing CSS
Not Working Yet in 5.0
- Carousels
- Event Calendar embed
- Links to external CSS files
- Book page navigation formatting
- List hidden bullets
- Local footer fonts
What should you be doing now?
- Preview your site in 5.0
- Report issues in the WDN Help Chat
- Do not make your site live until after the final release Jan 3, 2019
- Add dcf- classes if needed (adding these will not change how your site currently looks in 4.1)
