IANR will begin the transition this Spring from using Box as its primary cloud storage solution to using the Microsoft suite of OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams as the University’s new preferred general-purpose storage and collaboration tool.
Migration Schedule (subject to change)
- March 1: IANR Administration and business teams
- Late March: Nebraska Extension
- Mid-April: Academic units and research centers
If your website links to files in Box, the links will no longer work four weeks after the files have been migrated.
Website Planning and Updates
- Locate Box Links on Your Website
In your UNLcms site admin, search for pages containing unl.box.com to locate pages containing box links. If you linked to Box files using shortened URLs (example: go.unl.edu), you'll need to search for those as well and determine which links go to Box files. - Keep Track of Links
Create an excel file to keep track of old and new links. This will help you obtain the total hits when viewing Google Analytics yearly reports.

Update Link to File or Web Page
Below are options for preventing broken Box links on your website.- Create a webpage with the file contents and link to the web page instead of a Word doc or PDF file. See How-to Video: UNLcms Basics (30 min).

Upload files (word, excel, pdf, images, photos) to your UNLcms website. Organize files into subdirectories under the <root> directory.
- Upload video and audio files to MediaHub (mp4 or mp3).

Link to files in SharePoint/OneDrive.
